Leeward Coast Update – 005
Another whirlwind month as we look back over September! Both of us had some major illness issues to deal with this month, which inadvertently took time away from our sites, us getting updates posted or finishing redesigns of some sites. More; both of our day jobs required quite a bit more attention this month than normal. So our progress was slightly stunted, but how did we do?
In a single word; great! Kurt and I still can’t buy summer homes on Nantucket or quit our day jobs, but our little company continues to see rapid growth, with us
once again doubling our monthly earnings over August. Our cash flow estimate for earnings is about 6 months ahead of schedule, and Kurt has once again set the goal to double our earnings during October as well. (I’m a tad more conservative, but we agreed to go with his goal) I’ve inserted a graph showing our “growth curve” so you can see why we’re so excited.
Leeward Coast – Kurt completed the redesign of this site during the month of September. While this may not seem important at first glace, this website is our “face” to the world. When companies write to us inquiring about buying advertising or asking us if we’re interested in joint ventures; anyone worth their salt is going to check out our company homepage. Having this site refined and looking professional earns us little to no cash directly, but the indirect earnings are substantial. During the past month we’ve had 3 different companies contact us regarding advertising or some form of joint venture. These are the types of relationships that Kurt and I need to build in order to take this business to something we can do full time.
DIY Greenhouse – www.thediygreenhouse.com had a great month, with it reaching the #1 spot in Google for our chosen keyword phrase. This is a major milestone for any website developer – and it caused a nice bump in our traffic, which in turn caused an increase in our earnings. We also, for the first time since launching the site, saw more than 100 unique visitors to the site in a single day. All of these are great signs as continue to grow. Another important step we took in September was to look for opportunities to continually improve our adsense locations and revenue. The statistics around this had a 30% increase during September – so we’re doing something right. Look for a change to our main homepage this month in an effort to maximize on the traffic we are already getting, as well as potentially offering our very first “e-products” for sale by months end. We’ve hired an architect to design for us 5 custom greenhouse-building plans that we will be offering for sale.
MadCacher – www.madcacher.com So now that we’ve owned the site for a month, do we have any buyer’s remorse? Nope! We still couldn’t be happier with our purchase as discussed in update 004. Due to the earlier mentioned time limitations, we were not able to complete our redesign as hoped. We’ve set the bar at Halloween – Kurt is hard at work, and I have every confidence that he will get this done. The major news here is that one of the people that reached out to use was a jewelry maker from Seattle that creates pieces with personalized latitude and longitude coordinates on them. This should be attractive to geocachers and we’re hopeful fruitful for everyone involved. Thanks for reading – we’re looking forward to continuing to see the same level of growth as we come up on completing our first year of being in business together. Have a safe and productive October everyone!
